Romanian Walnuts Update September 2021

The walnuts industry has anxiously been waiting for the Romanian crop update. Since harvest has begun, there has been quite a speculation due to climatic discrepancies. For one thing, the crop is late this season. Since it's quite wet in Romania at the moment, farmers haven’t been able to start harvesting yet.

Furthermore, due to the weather, there has been no information about the quantity yet either. The first batch of the crops will be available during the second half of October. And even though the weather wasn’t expected, the quality is actually quite good. There has been an increase in quantity by 20% as well. Last season, the quantity had decreased by 20%, so things are back in order.

Characteristics Of The Harvest

The size of the crop is alright. However, the color is a bit lighter than usual. Since Romania supplies natural walnuts, the size is per the standards expected. The predicted quantity throughout the season has been 35,000 mts which is quite great.
